How To Lose Weight Without Going to the Gym

Craig Middleton
While gyms provide the exercise equipment you need to lose weight, these facilities aren’t for everyone. Thankfully, you can lose weight without going to a gym. You can start a healthy lifestyle at home and find fun ways to exercise on your own. Here are some more tips for dropping the pounds outside of the gym.

1. Avoid Diets

This advice may sound counter-intuitive. But fad diets, in particular, are usually not sustainable. In fact, individuals who try these diets typically end up gaining most of the weight back. Counting calories or points can also lead to more stress. Stress causes the body to release the hormone cortisol,  which has been linked to weight gain.

2. Create a Healthy Lifestyle

Instead of jumping on the diet trend, get ways to change your lifestyle. Make sure you get enough proteins and healthy fat. Be sure to give your body the minerals and vitamins it needs. You can do this by supplementing your food intake with products such as Le-Vel Thrive patch.

3. Drink More Water

Drinking water is a simple way to slim down. Studies show that water can help you reduce calorie intake. In fact, one study found that people who drank 16 ounces of water a half hour before meals, lost nine pounds in three-months.

4. Get Enough Sleep

The Mayo Clinic recently found that those who get seven to nine hours of sleep consumed 550 less calories than those who got up earlier. Specifically, sleep helps optimize levels of metabolic hormones in our bodies.

5. Walk or Bike To Work

Commuting on foot or on bike is an easy way to exercise. Of course, this is not an option if your office is far from your home. Yet even walking or biking from the bus stop or train station can make a difference. Research from 2014 revealed that average public transit commuter burned 324 calories.

6. Find New Ways To Work Out

If you don’t have time or money to go to the gym every week, try fitting in small workouts into your daily activities. You can easily find body weight workouts online that you can do in your living room. You could do sit-ups while watching television, or crunches while stuck in elevator.
